How to Play

Set & Match is a daily mahjong-themed tile puzzle. Place every cluster onto the grid so that each coloured region forms a valid mahjong combination.

How it works

Read the regions
Each coloured region has a condition label. Tiles placed inside must satisfy it.

Select & rotate
Tap a cluster to select it. Tap again to rotate 90°. Tiles in a cluster always move together.
03
Place on the board
Click a cell to drop it. The preview turns green when placement is valid, red when blocked.
04
Submit when ready
Fill every cell, then hit Submit. Failed regions tell you why; adjust and retry.

Core Sets

The four fundamental hand types
Chow3 tiles

Three consecutive tiles of the same suit. Honor tiles are not permitted.

e.g. Bam 3 · Bam 4 · Bam 5

Pong3 tiles

Three identical tiles.

e.g. Dot 7 · Dot 7 · Dot 7

Kong4 tiles

Four identical tiles.

e.g. Wan 1 · Wan 1 · Wan 1 · Wan 1

Pair2 tiles

Two identical tiles.

e.g. Red Dragon · Red Dragon

Region Conditions

Extra constraints applied to a single region
All SimplesFlex

No 1s, 9s, or honor tiles. Ranks 2–8 only.

e.g. Dot 3 · Wan 5 · Bam 7

All One SuitFlex

All tiles from a single numbered suit. No honor tiles.

e.g. Bam 2 · Bam 5 · Bam 9

Mixed One SuitFlex

All suited tiles belong to one numbered suit. Honor tiles are also allowed.

All TripletsFlex

Every set is a Pong or Kong. No Chows allowed.

All PairsEven

Every tile forms a pair. All pairs must be distinct; no two pairs of the same tile type.

KnittedFlex

Tiles from all three suits. Each suit uses exactly one rank group: {1, 4, 7}, {2, 5, 8}, or {3, 6, 9}. No duplicate tiles.

All TerminalsFlex

Every tile is a 1 or 9.

All HonorsFlex

Every tile is a Wind or Dragon (honor tiles only).

All WindsFlex

Every tile is a Wind tile (East, South, West, or North).

Every tile is a Dragon tile (Red, Green, or White).

Every tile is a terminal (1 or 9) or an honor tile.
